Donatella Versace reinforces her established and unapologetic belief that, for her, couture comes out at night. The Atelier Versace Haute Couture Autumn/Winter 15 collection, reinforces this maxim. The Paris presentation saw a precession of nocturnal glamour float down the colourful runway, which was formed from a carpet of orchids encased in transparent perspex.
And underfoot was not the only placement of transparency. Long flowing gowns revealed transparent panels of sheer chiffon and open mesh, positioned just so on the leg, chest and torso. "I call the collection tough, but ethereal at the same time," Versace said backstage after the show. "I wanted to explore the softer side of the Versace woman." And softer it was, less wham-bam than Spring's often overt cut-outs, this lineup oozed soft flowing chiffon's, though still ticking the boxes for the Versace woman, it had a more delicate sensibility.
