Mulberry announces Johnny Coca as its new creative director

Mulberry has named Johnny Coca its new creative director – confirming rumours surrounding his potential hire that surfaced back in October.
Coca will leave his role as head designer director for Céline's leather goods, accessories, shoes and jewellery – where he has been working since 2010 – to head the Mulberry design team.
"I very much look forward to joining Mulberry as their new creative director and to leading a new design direction at one of the very best British brands," said Coca – who will oversee all of Mulberry's collections, reporting to Godfrey Davis, chairman and chief executive officer. 
Davis noted that Coca ""Has a wealth of international luxury and fashion experience that will help us bring new energy and innovation to Mulberry." 
As well as his most recent role at Céline, Coca's C.V includes stints at Bally and Louis Vuitton in accessories, and he is also a talented jewellery designer. Mulberry's new creative director has also previously tutored students at Central St. Martins and is very respected in the industry.
The hire marks a new page for Mulberry – who have been searching for a creative director since Emma Hill's (pictured above) departure from the British fashion house in 2013. Coca will officially join the house on July 8 2015.

Natalie Massenet could be due a $175 million payout next year

According to calculations based on company documents and analyst valuations, Net-a-Porter founder Natalie Massenet stands to make millions next year thanks to a deal with the company's now-owner Richemont.
As the executive chairman of Net-a-Porter, Natalie Massenet is currently gathering estimates on the value of the business from potential bidders and bankers, so say financial advisers.
The news has sparked speculation that luxury goods group Richemont may be looking to sell, or perhaps float, Net-a-Porter.

This season marks the 10th year of Christian Louboutin's beloved Pigalle stiletto being in existence, and in celebration of the milestone the cherished designer is inviting fans and followers to share shots of their own shoes...
Pigalle fans – and the style has quite the cult following – are being invited to Instagram and Twitter to partake in a new competition featuring the hashtag #PigalleIs10.
Winners receive a post in return on the brand's social media platforms and being featured on until December 1.
Born in Autumn/Winter 2004, the Pigalle is named after one of Christian Louboutin's favourite neighbourhoods in Paris. Alexander Wang has announced that he will launch his first London boutique early next year – on Albemarle Street in Mayfair
Set to pop up on Albemarle Street in Mayfair early next year, the Alexander Wang boutique will be the first of its kind for the UK capital.
Albermarle Street is becoming quite the destination for the world of fashion and art, with boutiques including Paul Smith, Amanda Wakeley, Buccellati and Garrard & Co. all having a presence – peppered amongst the galleries and fine art dealers already situated there.
The new Alexander Wang boutique will be spread over 6,500 square feet at 43-44 Albemarle Street and is set to open early 2015.

Louis Vuitton among the world's most valuable brands according to Forbes

Forbes has released its 'World's Most Valuable Brands' list – placing Apple at the top for the fifth consecutive time.
Technology companies continue to dominate Forbes 'World's Most Valuable Brands' list, with Apple unsurprisingly in first place, closely followed by the Microsoft Corporation and Google Inc. Technology stocks took 19 of the 100 spots. Whilst the highest-valued luxury brand was LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA’s Louis Vuitton, who were recently crowned the most popular brand on Facebook. The new Forbes list almost exactly mirrors Interbrands' recent 'top brand' findings, with Apple also taking the top spot on the October report. 
Forbes compiles its top brands list by focussing on the financials of the companies under valuation – rather than consumer feedback. The methodology is based on the belief that brand value translates into the financial performance of a business. The complex evaluation process begins with a selection of over 200 brands that have a significant presence in America. The iconic business magazine then calculates the average of the last three years earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) to determine the earnings potential of each brand. It then subtracts an 8% earnings charge, "figuring a generic brand should be able to earn at least 8% on this capital."

After unveiling campaign images last month of the ultra-chic Daria Werbowy relaxing in a car wearing a knitted Céline ensemble, the French fashion house has now presented the full collection.
For the latest lineup, Ms. Philo continues to develop the theme of elegant knitwear – a design she first presented in her Spring/Summer 15 collection. Accentuating the slinky woven technique, the Cruise 2015 ranges from thin turtlenecks paired with calf-length skirts, monochrome jumpsuits and sleeveless tuxedo jackets that feature delicate, pastel-colour knit pockets – highliting wearability and contemporary craftsmanship in each peice.
