Harrods reveals its fashion designer influenced festive plans
The iconic London store is planning an all-out luxury extravaganza for the festive season this winter
Harrods – no stranger to a super festive display – is planning quite the series of events for it's much-celebrated Christmas season. The Knightsbridge store will create a 'Land of Make-Believe' featuring oversized classic toys dreamed up and dressed by a series of designers.
It's been reported that a 'Stella McCartney Snow Queen' will perform in a snow globe, while Matthew Williamson will dress a dapper jack-in-the-box... And a music box by furniture designer Amy Somerville will feature marching toy soldiers dressed in Thom Browne.
"This year, we wanted to re-create that sense of wonder and excitement that you remember from your childhood, when your eyes got tired from gazing too hard," said Deborah Bee, Harrods' Director of Creative Marketing. "This is the first time we have had this amount of movement within the Christmas scheme – and there will be lots of surprises."
Each of the store's famous Brompton Road windows will display scenes of a Scandinavian landscape of silver birch trees, ice blue skies and drifting snow decorated with giant old-fashioned toys that have been reimagined for the 21stcentury.
