The kings of downtown dressing, Proenza Schouler, have brought their inimitable brand of cool to beauty with a new make-up collection for M.A.C, available exclusively at Selfridges.
“We wanted to create something that the Proenza Schouler woman could relate to off the runway” says designer Jack McCollough. The result is a vibrant collection of ombré blushes, nail colours, lipsticks and lip pencils all presented in characteristically modern oil slick packaging.
Having worked together on their runway shows since 2008, M.A.C.'s Creative Director, James Gager, felt it was the global trend towards a more natural, healthy beauty look that meant the time was right to collaborate with the New York fashion house.
“Women are wanting to wear less and less make-up — and this collection is about enhancement, translating beauty to look quite real and quite healthy" he explains.
This fresh-faced look sits perfectly with the Proenza aesthetic, a unique mix of urban styling and nonchalant attitude which has won the brand celebrity fans like Kate Bosworth, Diane Kruger and Chloe Sevigny.
“We love a girl who’s not too done,” says McCollough. “Maybe you have a clean face and a bright lip, or a bit of an eye, or maybe only your nails are colourful.”
It’s a beauty approach that Terry Barber, MAC’s Director of Make Up Artistry, identifies as ‘the art of effortless'. Describing it as "a beauty wardrobe for the modern woman", he explains the collection is designed to be worn "one element at a time".
The covetable array of elements to choose from, whether it’s a deeply pigmented lipstick in aubergine or a throughly modern nude nail polish, is sure to delight both Proenza fans and beauty lovers alike.
The collection is available exclusively at Selfridges stores and at selfridges.com now.
