Chanel Bijoux de Diamants

Gabrielle Chanel may be known for pearls, but there was once another lustrous gem in her life. This just-released video tells the story of how in 1932 Chanel created her first and only collection devoted entirely to diamonds. By creating settings that eliminated the need for clasps and by mounting the stones almost invisibly in an array of asterisk and shooting-star shapes, Chanel paved the way for a whole new style of fine jewelry. "I wanted to shower women in constellations," the designer explained.

Watch as the story of Bijoux de Diamants is told through a captivating collage, animation, and archival footage. Like with the most glittering of jewels, you won't be able to look away.

Louis Vuitton S/S 2013 Scarves

Louis Vuitton's S/S 2013 scarves sport street-art influences and artwork? The fashion house's Spring Summer 2013 scarves collection gets the special treatment, sporting the artists' emblematic artwork and street-art influences. It's just the thing for a bangin' start to the new year? Japan-born artist Aiko has left her signature flair on her manga-inspired giant silk square for fusing the contemporary with the traditional, integrating Japanese icons like the chrysanthemum flower and double chains (symbolic of good fortune) with pop art elements, while Californian graffiti writer Retna (who's worked with the likes of R&B artist Usher) has taken a much more abstract approach on a stole-- his interpretation of the Louis Vuitton signature and motif appears as a mixture of ancient Incan and Egyptian hieroglyphics, Arabic, Hebrew and Asian calligraphy and graffiti, a rebellious, but surely fitting tribute to graffiti culture.
But if a lasting impression is what you really want to leave, graffiti artist duo (and twin brothers) Os Gemeos' mosaic silk square, repetitively and dizzyingly patterned with brightly-coloured Sun and Moon motifs, is guaranteed to leave anyone who stares too closely at it a little cross-eyed. The  Vuitton Spring Summer 2013 Scarves collection will be available in January - February 2013, and is priced from S$580 for the Mosaic Square to S$1,120 for the Script Stole.
