Cristobal Balenciaga: "Collectionneur des Modes” and Comme des Garçons:" White Drama,” Exhibitions in Paris

Last April 13 at the Paris cultural center of the Docks en Seine opened two exhibitions devoted to the iconic brands - Japanese Comme Des Garcons and Spanish Cristóbal Balenciaga,
 honoring the 40th Death Anniversary of Balenciaga founder with an exhibit of his prized collection of historical Spanish costumes while Rei Kawakubo chose to display her 33 looks“White Drama” collection in bubbles.



Comme des Garçons creative director  Rei Kawakubo saw a model from a collection of White Drama under the transparent plastic bubbles, which creates a sense of inviolable purity, and the whole exhibition as a whole - journey into the future. Olivier Saillard, director of the museum Galliera, a collection of  Rei Kawakubo called it "poetry".







Forty years after the death of Balenciaga, the exhibition presents an overview of the master’s career. It is accompanied by a presentation – staged in collaboration with Rei Kawakubo – of contemporary genius Comme des Garçons’ current collection, the dramatic monochrome White Drama.

 In honor of the 40th Death anniversary of Balenciaga, the museum showcases an extraordinary exhibit of his amazing historical Spanish costumes. Over 70 pieces dating from the 18th-20th century and 40 couture dresses will take your breathe away and will give you a true taste of couture in its original state.Balenciaga, the couturier’s couturier, who died 40 years ago in Paris, was an avid collector of 19th-century court and folk costumes from his native Spain. This exhibition, curated by the Galliera’s Olivier Saillard.
